About Annette Sloly
My Journey in Supporting Others
For over fourteen years, I have supported professionals, creatives, performers, and other adults to manage anxiety, regulate their nervous system, and function more effectively under pressure. My work is informed by ongoing professional development, clinical experience, and a commitment to understanding the psychological and physiological factors that influence performance, confidence, and wellbeing.
Whether someone is seeking to regain confidence, manage sustained stress, overcome performance anxiety, or better understand long-standing patterns of anxiety, I am continually struck by the resilience people bring to the process. Supporting clients through meaningful change has shaped not only my professional practice but also my respect for the mind’s capacity to adapt, learn, and grow.
A Personal Journey of Transformation
My work is grounded in lived experience and professional training. My own journey has involved navigating trauma and adversity, which has deepened my commitment to self-awareness, emotional resilience, and personal growth. A personal spiritual practice underpins how I work, supporting compassion, presence, and perspective in both my life and my clinical practice.
Before training as a Clinical Hypnotherapist, I spent a decade working in the arts across the public and private sectors. That period gave me a practical understanding of performance pressure, workplace stress, creativity under scrutiny, and the emotional demands placed on people in high-expectation environments.
Alongside formal study and ongoing professional development, these experiences continue to inform my understanding of the relationship between mind, body, and nervous system. They also reinforce my belief that meaningful change is possible when people are given the right support, practical tools, and opportunity to move forward.
Continual Learning & Professional Development
Ongoing professional development has been central to my work throughout my career. I continue to expand my knowledge of stress, anxiety, resilience, and psychological wellbeing, while remaining equally committed to my own self-development and self-awareness.
As someone diagnosed with ADD later in life, I bring both professional expertise and personal insight to my work. This perspective supports my creativity, curiosity, and flexible approach, helping me tailor support to each individual while remaining attentive to the unique way they experience the world.

Creativity & Personal Interests
Creativity and communication have been central to my life from an early age. I trained as a classical violinist and began acting at the age of four, later working across acting, singing, storytelling, and writing. I have performed professionally, including appearances on television and radio, and understand first-hand the realities of performing under pressure, from preparation and rehearsal through to the moments when nerves can suddenly take hold.
This background continues to inform my work with clients, including musicians, performers, speakers, and other professionals who are required to perform under scrutiny. Alongside my clinical experience, it gives me a practical understanding of the demands of performance, the realities of working under pressure, and the ways anxiety can affect concentration, confidence, and expression.
I also studied yoga over a twenty-year period, developing a deep appreciation for breath, presence, and nervous system regulation. Alongside my clinical training and professional experience, these influences continue to shape my understanding of performance, wellbeing, and resilience.
Alongside my clinical work, I am co-founder of Raconteurs (formerly Bristol Speakers Club), a voluntary community initiative that supports the development of public-speaking confidence, communication skills, and storytelling.
I am also co-creator of Lux Nova, a collaborative sound and data project developed with my husband, David Sloly. As current residents at The Studio, Bath Spa University, we explore how hidden patterns in scientific data can be experienced through immersive sound. Our work includes Notes from Your Universe, a project shaped from space and astronomical datasets.
I enjoy music, reading, hiking, dancing, travelling, and exploring different cultures. A long-standing interest in art and history often draws me to museums, galleries, and historical sites, while time outdoors with family and friends remains an important part of my life.
